Why Goal Setting Benefits You!

We're on the verge of entering 2019; why not start the year off with a bang by setting personal goals to reach! Goals are what allow us to move forward in life. They give us small victories to eventually meet the big picture dream that we may have for ourself. The best part about goals is that they can be long term, like where you want to be in a year, and short term, where you see yourself in a week or a month. Our short term goals keep the dream and the drive alive for our long term goals. The results help maintain inspiration, action, and, most importantly, motivation. As you CRUSH those short term goals coming into 2019; you are slowly working up to the long term goal. Also, along the way you may even find that there are new goals you'd like to reach or even make changes to the few that you have. It's a journey that is so important to take advantage of. Here are a few reasons why goal setting can be VERY beneficial:

1. Goals give you focus; by giving yourself a goal you allow yourself to have a target. This sense of direction will assist you in making decisions and taking actions with purpose for your goal, rather than aimlessly doing things that won't take you to where you want to be.

2.Goals allow you to measure progress and this is what can drive your motivation and excitement! You're able to see where you started in comparison to where you are and clearly see the progress made that will drive you to keep going and work as best you can to reach your goal.

3. Setting goals give you mental boundaries that assist in keeping your focus. Your eye will stay on the prize! As tempted as you may be during a 6 week challenge or even a person fitness challenge to stray from your path you'll have those mental barriers in place to help guide you to your end result.

4.Goals help you beat procrastination and just get what you need to get done, completed! It's easy to put things off, "i'll do it tomorrow," but as the saying is true the hardest part really is getting started. When you set goals you hold YOURSELF accountable. Your goals tend to stick in your mind because it is something you think of and work toward daily. Due to this, overcoming the laziness or procrastination is possible because the desire for the goal is so high!

Goal setting is a power tool to become very successful in any part of our lives! Understanding its importance will allow for better implementation! While we wrap up this year and get ready to enter 2019 I challenge you to set a long term goal and take action on the short term goals to eventually get there! Take it day by day!
