Connect your mind to the moment

Mindfulness is a great way to notice your surroundings. It can help you connect on a deeper level with the things in your present life. It allows you not to be reactive or become overwhelmed by what's going on around you. Human beings naturally possess the ability of mindfulness, but it is also something that can be practice. This helps you remodel the physical structure of the brain, which is known as neuroplasticity. When you begin bringing awareness to your senses, your thoughts, state of mind, or emotions that is being mindful. The practice of mindfulness has many benefits to your well-being, a big one is helping reduce stress which plagues just about everyone at some point in life.

The great thing about mindfulness is that it can be practiced anywhere and doing just about anything. All it takes is awareness of the moment. For example, during a really tough workout. Instead of the nonstop wondering of when it'll be over, or how many reps and etc, redirecting your mind to connect to what is happening in that exact moment. How you may feel, what thoughts you're having, the things you smell and just accepting the moment for what is. When you start to feel your mind wondering or stressing about what you may need to do after your workout you can just redirect yourself to being present in THAT current moment.

This is what the practice of mindfulness is all about. It doesn't matter if your mind wonders a 100 times while you're implementing mindfulness. The mind is strengthened by it's ability to notice it's gotten away from the present moment, and by redirecting it to the moment at hand. As you get better at this, you're able to lower stress levels in the body, and allow yourself to feel a sense of relaxation, and it takes the edge off tackling the day!
