Carbs Are NOT All Made Equal

All carbs are NOT made equally. There are myths within the health/fitness world that a carb is a carb is a carb. Just meaning that 200 calories of bread and 200 calories of potatoes have the same effect on the body, but science has proven that couldn't be deemed more false.

For starters carbs make up about no more than 1% of our body weight which isn't much at all. So what's the point of carbs? Well they are our main source of energy to run biological processes. Which is very vital for us, however when we eat carbs that don't mesh seamlessly with our bodies that's when issues start to arise.

Complex carbs from whole foods such as legumes, oats, veggies potatoes, gains, etc are better serving our health than carbs from simple sugars like candy or processed breads and foods. Human-beings did not evolve to eat that way, and when we ingest these foods negative things, that may not seem linked to what you're eating but usually are, tend to happen. Such as crashing mid day, migraines, bloat, you name it. There's a LONG list of symptoms that plague the quality of our days that are correlated to what we eat and drink.

How can you start to make a change to completely switch over to complex carb? Simple. One food at a time. Cut one and add one. So for example say you cut candy out of you diet add in more fruits, preferably low glycemic like berries, apples, lime and lemon to help you ease in to the transition. You'll start to notice the positive effects that 250 calories of blueberries give you vs. 250 calories of a bag of skittles.

The quality of you carbs matter because it determines the quality of you health! Don't take it lightly! You deserve to feel your best everyday!
